Nostalgia

I have been thinking about Mother's Day tomorrow, and my mom, my amazing extended family, and my kids who are too far away! I dug out some old albums and found some treasures..............this reminded me of two summers ago when we evacuated our home here in Colorado Springs because of the terrible fires that were encroaching on the city. Tim was gone on a trip, but I was so thankful that Luke was here at the time. He helped me decide what to load in our two vehicles to take with us. At that time, I learned a valuable lesson about what "things" are really important. It's not the clothes and the furniture or the knick knacks. It's the old journals, the old letters, certain pictures on the wall, and the old photo albums, of which we have a lot! They all got hauled out and loaded in a safe place. Most important is the treasure of my family. How thankful I am to God for each of them and that He watches over us!
P.S. The Lego also got evacuated!

Some of the "treasures" that I scanned today.........

Grandpa (my dad) with Tyler.

Grandma (My mom) with Tyler.

Uncle Dan (my brother) showing Luke the newborn kittens.

A favorite memory of Tyler when he was a baby - playing with his ear while he sucked on his finger.

Daddy's eyes.

Tyler had no fear, because his dad was holding him!

 Calgary skyline.

My loves.

So this is where I grew up......

It was over 20 years ago that I took these pictures of our farm (in Saskatchewan, Canada). Our friend took us up in his small plane. My parents planted all of those trees (many, many years ago)! This is amazing to me. They were the hardest working people I know.

See that country road? When Tim came to visit me after we were engaged, he called that road "the longest driveway I have ever seen!" Tim grew up a city boy, and when he saw where I grew up, he thought it was "the ends of the earth"!

This is the house on our farm where I was raised. That's my dad on the tractor giving Luke a ride.

.....and this is the town of Luseland, 8 and 1/2 miles from our farm, where I went to school. Google it!

No higher calling

So blessed to be a mom to these amazing sons!

Tim's Birthday - Part III

Sunrise on our last morning in beautiful Malta (Photo credit: Tim).

Back in our beloved Switzerland.

More Birthday partying.

Birthday dessert on the house. Chocolate lava cake. Divine!

A beautiful rainy night in Zurich, our last night in Europe.

Tim's Birthday - Part II

On our last afternoon in Malta, after the closing session at Tim's conference, we went back to Mdina to enjoy one last stroll and also cappuccino and Birthday cake at a delightful cafe on the city wall. What a beautiful panoramic view of the countryside and Mediterranean Sea! A great end to our time in Malta, sometimes described as "the hidden jewel of the Mediterranean".
