Back to Germany

We are back in Germany. Look what greeted us upon our return! Wow. Can you see the double rainbow? This was taken out of our front window.

Temperature Contrast

Today in Germany - almost 54F (12C).

Days ago in Indiana - a man ice fishing on a lake. Well below 32F (0C).

Why Luke and I are in the US

Luke and I will be visiting the campuses of Grace College and Taylor University this week. Both schools are in Indiana, about a 4.5 hour drive from where we are right now in Ohio. We hope that this will be a special week for Luke and he will have some sort of leading about where he should be next year after high school graduation.

Tom takes on the icicles

My brother Tom courageously takes on the icicles at mom's house. See below for live action. PS. Did you know it was 55 F - warm and sunny in Germany today???

Sunday Dinner at the Shuman home

Mom's amazing Sauerkraut and Pork dinner.

This is just a small portion of the Shuman tribe - just 14 of us around the Shuman table. Mom takes it all in stride.

My parents home in Ohio. This snow is coming down!

Shoveling snow after church this morning. I LOVE this stuff.
Looking across the street from mom and dad's place.

Ice and Snow in Ohio

Luke and I waded through 2 feet of snow to take pictures.

Check out this ice-sheet at my parent's house!! Way cool. Just like the old days.

Valentines Party

After school we held a Valentines Party for everyone. There were several dancing activities to choose from: Swing, Scottish, and Line in different locations on campus. Everyone had fun. Do I spy a Shuman in that crowd? Dark shirt, dark hat...

Middle School Talent Show

Last skit of the Talent Show by the middle school teachers. They sang a new version of "My Favorite Things" from Sound of Music that ended with Captain von Trapp, me, BFA's Director entering the scene and bringing order to the chaos. It was a lot of fun and everyone had a great time. This was part of our Valentines Day activities.

Lorica of St. Patrick

I love this prayer, written by St. Patrick in 377

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through a confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation.

Internet radio stations playing on my computer

CM Radio - www.cmradio.net. This Christian station is also available through itunes. CMradio has 8 different Christian music options. Usually I'm listening to either "The Light" or "The Spirit" through itunes.

Home Radio - http://www.home.fm/. This station plays a nice mix of "lite" secular and Christian. This one is also available through itunes - that's how I usually listen to it.

Of course, it's all free and 24/7.

Have you seen this one about European stereotypes?

"Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics are German, the lovers are Italian and it is all organised by the Swiss. Hell is where the police are German, the cooks are English, the mechanics are French, the lovers are Swiss, and it is all organised by the Italians."

If you've spent time in Europe you might relate to these stereotypes.

Luke's friends over for his birthday

Julie (France), Emily (China), Stephanie (Hungary).

More friends. Sandee made a big turkey dinner, thanksgiving style, for everyone. We are thankful for Luke on this special day.

Awesome birthday party game.

Adam Dunham gave Luke a great video game where you "shoot" a soccer penalty kick, by passing your foot over a sensor on a mat on the floor. What a blast!

No goal. Try again.
