Tyler goes to camp

Tyler went to Switzerland for 13 days (July 16-28) to work at a Christian teen camp. Every summer Janz Team sponsors English camps in Germany and Switzerland. These camps provide an opportunity for campers to learn English as well as hear the Gospel or grow in their walk with the Lord. Tyler worked as a Jr counsellor and also assisted with games, washing dishes and hanging out with the campers.

Imagine waking up to this every morning!

See the waterfall in the first picture? This group photo was taken after climbing to the top of the falls. A challenging but rewarding hike!

A day trip

Today I went to Lucerne, Switzerland with some wonderful friends from BFA. We had a great time together walking along the old city wall, having lunch by the lake, drinking coffee at an outdoor cafe, marveling at the breathtaking views, among them the majestic Alps!

Covered walking bridge that Lucerne is famous for. It was built in the 1st half of the 14th century as part of the city's fortifications.

As seen from a bike.......

Tim and I do a lot of biking in the summertime in the area where we are living. It is a challenge because of so many hills, but here is a taste of what we get to enjoy along the way! I took these pictures on one of the routes I like to bike. It is approximately 28 kms. long and the scenery is spectacular! (I bike the lower hills but Tim goes higher in the "mountains"!)

This is the village of Holzen where I lived for 6 years before Tim and I were married. During those years I worked as a resident assistant in a BFA girls dorm. It is located right beside the church. You can see the steeple in the distance.....

Day Trip to St. Blasien, Germany

St. Blasien is a beautiful town. The "Dom" or cathedral is the Dom-inate feature in this small village. Today this is a functioning Catholic church and a Jesuit high school and boarding school for German kids. It used to be a monastery years ago.

This was a really cool building - now a chothing store. This is the Black Forest style.

View from the High Black Forest region. You can see the Swiss Alps in the distance. Amazing. That column of white cloud in the distance (just right of center) is a cooling vapors from our nearest nuclear power plant miles away from here. That's impressive too.

The perfect day....

Today Tim and I helped with driving a visiting Canadian C&MA workteam to the Swiss Alps. They have done an incredible amount of work around BFA the last 10 days. They finished their projects so were able to do some sightseeing today - their last day here.
We have been having weeks of rain and unseasonably cool weather but today the sky was clear blue and the temperature was perfect! What a gift!

On top of the world...almost!

Jesse and Doris Frank hosted the workteam and did a great job preparing meals, chauffeuring them all over and working alongside of them! Doris is Sandee's sister.
