Beauty from Ashes

We recently went hiking for the first time in one of areas where the Waldo Canyon fire did so much damage almost 15 months ago. Hiking trails in the burn scar have been closed since the fire, but this particular trail was recently re-opened.
Even though we saw a lot of evidence of the damage done by the fire, it was amazing (and encouraging) to see so much new growth - a living demonstration how God brings beauty from ashes.

Mitigation on the hillside to prevent flash flooding and to help promote new growth.

It was refreshing to see wild flowers growing all around the charred tree trunks.
