Sunday at our house

Church in Basel followed by coffee and a good book at Starbucks. On the way home we saw our local steam train and stopped to take some pictures. Later I went for a walk in the forest, and tonight we go to the dorm where Tim will be a judge in a bake-off contest!

Pumpkins Galore!

There are so many varieties of pumpkins where we live and they are very abundant each fall.

Today I made pumpkin soup for supper, and carved some little pumpkins to make pumpkin candles. Then I tried a new recipe for pumpkin loaf! The house is smelling like pumpkin and cinnamon right now!

Last stop - Venice

On Thursday we ended our senior trip in beautiful Venice in the northeastern part of Italy. We had left the Mediterranean on the southwestern side of Italy very early that morning and drove 10 hours across country to the Adriatic.
Venice is my favorite of the 3 cities that we visited. We were wishing we could have spent more time there. It happens every year - senior trip comes and goes too quickly! We are thankful, though, that the trip holds such wonderful memories for us and especially for the class of 2010.

Our evening ended with a Vivaldi concert - The Four Seasons. What a fitting climax to a spectacular week!

Riding the ferry through the canals of Venice back to our buses. Then the long 9 hour ride through the night back to BFA! It's good to be home!

No place like the beach

The hostel where we stayed was no five star hotel, but it was directly on the Mediterranean. That was the seniors' favorite place to hang out. We had sunny warm weather very single day which made it even better! One day we did no sightseeing but had a beach day instead.

A night on the town

One of the highlights of our week in Italy was a night out in Rome. It was a dress-up event - dinner at a nice restaurant where we enjoyed 7 courses of wonderful Italian food. We then took the seniors on a short walk to the romantic Trevi fountain and treated them to gelato, the most amazing ice cream in the world!

My wonderful small group!
