Our ministry at the orphanage - Part III

At the orphanage there is a very small two-classroom school. Our team helped to build the walls for an addition to the school - a third classroom. Notice the little outhouse in the background. This is the one bathroom that everyone at the orphanage (including our team!!) has to use.

The orphanage has no running water. Just imagine all of the extra works this causes - heating rain water for cooking, cleaning, baths, dishes, and.....laundry! Yes, all of their laundry, including loads of dirty diapers, must be washed by hand!

While we were there, these wringers were "installed" and caused quite the excitement. Now they don't have to wring out the washed laundry by hand. They can run it through these crank machines.

Each day we conducted a VBS program for the kids. This included singing with them, a Bible story, a group game time, and a craft. Here, Alanna and Jun are telling the story of The Wordless Book. Florence, one of the house mothers, is interpreting.

Singing......the children loved singing with us!

Changing diapers - there is a desperate need at the orphanage for cloth diapers. They are unable to use disposables (except at night) because the landfills in Kenya cannot handle them.
