Speaking of love......

I was going through some old photos this morning and found these from 1986! They were taken when Tim came to BFA to visit me. We had been corresponding for five (long!) years. Our friendship through letters eventually turned into a budding romance, and then Tim knew that he had to come and see me! So....after five years of not seeing each other, we finally met again! Three months later Tim asked me to marry him. Very romantic, wouldn't you agree?!


Tim proposed to me in the heart of the Swiss Alps while we were both sitting on this particular park bench! He engraved our engagement date on the bench to commemorate the occasion (September 6, 1986)!

African Children's Choir

Tonight, I went with friends to hear an African children's choir from Uganda that is currently touring in Europe. They were a delight to see - so full of talent and enthusiasm! Their dancing was amazing but unfortunately it was too difficult(too fast!) to capture on camera. These photos show some of their slower,"calmer" songs!

Cooking class at BFA

Our school has been offering cooking classes one day a week after school for the past four weeks. Each week's class(attended mostly by High School students) prepares a different ethnic meal - Peruvian, Chinese, Mexican, etc.. I was able to attend the Chinese class and the Mexican class. Here students are preparing tortillas for enchiladas.

Our teacher put everyone to work to help speed up the food prep.


Enchiladas made with homemade refried beans, homemade tortillas, and homemade chili tomato sauce.....served with homemade avocado dip and doritos on the side! Delicioso!

Sunday afternoon walk

Our local golf course is a great place to go for a walk. At this time of year it is not very busy, but every once in awhile we have to stop for any golfers who might be on the course since they have "the right of way".

Sandee's small group

Since Christmas we have added a new member to our small group. Her name is Katey and she is from Spain. She's on the far left; then there's Kyra(France), Anna(U.S.), Olivia(Portugal) Christa(Switzerland) and Esther(Switzerland). We're all very happy that Katey has joined our group!

Time to celebrate

Tonight we had a wonderful time celebrating my sister Doris's Birthday. Here she is with her husband Jesse and daughter Shawna who is visiting from the States.

19 years ago........

19 years ago today Luke was born in Loerrach, Germany(at 4:07 pm). He weighed just under 7 lbs. and had a headful of dark hair. Today, on his 19th Birthday, he has a headful of blonde hair and is very far away from us in college in Indiana! This is the first time he has been apart from us for his Birthday. Happy Birthday, son! We miss you!

Coffee with Friends

I had coffee today with three amazing ladies - Meghan, Bethany and Alyssa. They are teachers at BFA. I wish you could meet them personally!

Hochblauen and Hoarfrost

Today Tim and I drove up to Hochblauen, the mountain that is 12 miles from our house. There is no snow in our town so we went to find some!

Hang-glider...

Snow on the ground, hoarfrost in the trees, blue sky mixed with the most amazing clouds. Oh!...and best of all, my man!
