Getting around Chiang Mai

One day during our stay in Chiang Mai, while Tim was in meetings, I hired a Songthaew - a red truck taxi - to take me to a local pottery factory. I wanted to purchase a Thia nativity.
My driver charged me $3 to drive me 15 minutes to the factory, wait a half hour for me at the factory while I shopped, and then drive me back to the hotel! Good deal! I gave him a nice tip since he was so kind to wait for me. He was very happy! (When I was done shopping I came out of the store and found him taking a nap in the back of the truck!)
