Cool mementos from Thailand

Tim is home and I am happy!
Check out the cool gifts he brought back from generous friends in Thailand. Well, one of these gifts is not so cool and it is hiding in my cupboard so I don't have to look at it! Guess which one!!
Inside these beautiful wooden boxes is a wonderful surprise - delicate and very detailed flowers carved out of soap.

The soap flowers were purchased at the night market in Chiang Mai. Here is the seller at his stall, carving a flower out of soap.

Yup! This would be the not-so-cool gift! Fried larvae. Yum! Adults and kids eat these as a snack in Thailand.

Banana chips in different flavors. We won't know what the flavor is until we sample them since we can't read the Thai description on the bag!

A gift for me from a staff member of Chiang Rai International Christian School. This scarf is gorgeous, the most beautiful I've ever had. Tim goes back to Thailand in November. I think I need to go with him so I can thank this staff member in person!

Last day in Malaysia

Tim spent his last afternoon in Malaysia with BFA alumni. Back in 1985-86 Don was a student in Haus Bad Riedlingen, the dorm where Tim was an RA, and Melodee was a student in Storchenblick, the dorm where I was an RA. They are married with three children and living in Penang. Tim had a wonderful time catching up with them. Here's Karis, Kalista and Sean.

Panoramic view of Dalat International School campus. I wish I could post them three in a row!

Malaysia some more.....

A few more pictures from Tim in Malaysia. Here is the team of boarding administrators that he met with. They come from 8 different boarding schools in Asia, Africa, and Europe. BFA was represented at the summit, and Tim really enjoyed connecting with them (Calvin and Scott).

Great food (as always) on these trips!

Sunset on the ocean, actually The Strait of Malacca, which connects the Pacific Ocean to the east with the Indian Ocean to the west.

Palmer Trail - Garden of the Gods

Beautiful day for an early morning hike on Palmer Trail in Garden of the Gods, which is only a 10 minute drive from our house! There are so many trails in that park waiting to be discovered. I found one of them today and the views were spectacular.

This rock formation is called Siamese Twins.

Happy robin on top of the world!
