All nine of us in correct birth order. Can you tell if the oldest is on the left or on the right? I can't. l. to r.: Teddy, Becky, Jim, Jack, Pam, Tim, Tom, Cheri, and Chellie.
Well, I made it back safely to Germany. My two week trip included the following highlights...
I witnessed Sandee becoming an American in Cleveland, Ohio.
I saw many BFA alumni in Chicago area at Trinity, Wheaton, and Moody.
I represented BFA in Chicago, IL and Anaheim, CA.
I signed up three pages of potential staff recruits for BFA.
Ohio State beat Michigan and I got to watch the game live (in California).
Michael Lee took Hans Fung and me out to eat for genuine Korean food. Wow, that was great.
I ate my first bowl of spicy Jambalaya at the "Stadium Grill" in CA with two BFA alumni. It was GOOD.
I was able to extend my trip in order to be back "home" in Ohio for Thanksgiving with my entire family that included my parents, and my five sisters and three brothers. That was an amazing and rare thing. Thank you Lord and mom and dad.
I was able to visit with my best friends from childhood: Dan and Dave Raper and I stayed in David's home.
Pizza from the stone oven at Rex and Lois's place. Great food and fellowship and family.
I had a warm Krispy Kreme donut. Mmm Mmm.
I made it safely back to my gorgeous wife and sons.
BFA was just fine while I was gone for two weeks - way to go - Lane and Bill.
Some of the best things in life happen around food.
My good buddies Dan and Dave Raper. They always have a way of cracking me up without fail. Can you tell these guys are twins? We met in second grade sunday school and have been great friends ever since.
Here I am out for Korean food with Michael Lee, former BFA staff member, and Hans Fung, BFA staff member on furlough this year. What a spread of food!! Amazing.
Here is BFA display at the ACSI Anaheim convention. I got put beside Sea World who were presenting their field trip and camping programs. This is the view from my display. This convention center is HUGE. There are 8000 delegates here.
This the ACSI European Council. We met in Anaheim, California to plan our upcoming teacher convention to be held in Kandern, Germany at BFA in April 2007. Around the table are heads of schools from Vienna, Austria; Moscow, Russia; Budapest, Hungary; Madrid, Spain; and Kandern, Germany. A good bunch of friends. Leading us is Dan Egeler from ACSI.
Anaheim, California - the Convention center. The ACSI convention starts tomorrow and they expect 8000 Christian teachers to attend. There has got to be one or two potential BFA staff members among them, right? Pray with me for that. I think I like palm trees. There is nothing like this in Kandern, Germany. The weather here is amazing - in the 90s. I did not bring summer clothes with me. I wish I had shorts along.
Here I am with Wheaton College senior, Sarah Drake a grad of BFA. She is the head of MuKappa on this campus. It was great to see her again and get caught up on happenings with all of the BFA kids. This is Dan Gorrell another senior at Wheaton and a BFA grad. He is doing well at Wheaton and is such a smart guy. He speaks several languages and is going onto study more linguistics after he graduates.
This is Laura Robinson a recent BFA graduate (2006). She is enjoying Wheaton College. Here is Julia Davis a sophmore at Wheaton. Great to see her again.
Some great BFA graduates...Andrew Tebbe, me (not a BFA graduate), David Thornton, and James Thornton. Here's David Thornton actually doing some staff recruiting for me. He did an excellent job.
